Reverend Floyd W. Trammell, Junior is the fifth Senior Pastor of the First Friendship Institutional Baptist Church in San Francisco, California. He is a graduate of Morehouse College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion and he has attained a Master’s of Divinity Degree from American Baptist Seminary of the West in Berkeley, California. He is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Pastoral Care and Counseling at San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Anselmo, California. Since being licensed to preach the Gospel at the age of twelve in El Centro, California, Reverend Trammell has worked diligently to build a new, relevant and revolutionary ministry. In 1996, he was recruited by Dr. Amos C. Brown, Pastor of the historic Third Baptist Church of San Francisco, to develop a strategic “Plan for Growth” for the young adult population of the church and community. After serving as an associate minister for Third Baptist Church, Reverend Trammell was called as the Pastor of the First Friendship Institutional Baptist Church.

As a shepherd, Reverend Trammell has led the First Friendship Church by creating a vision and mission. He has modified traditional components of the church and moved the congregation to embrace inclusivity. In the church’s 60 years of existence, Reverend Trammell was able to bring the first women to preach within the pulpit! Even more, the first woman was licensed to preach in June 2007. One of the milestones of his pastorate focused upon opening the doors of the church to house 60 homeless men this ministry effort stimulated spiritual, numerical, and financial growth of the church. Under the leadership of Reverend Trammell, the First Friendship Church continues to create ministries that directly impact the total human being.
